The loss of a significant person in your life is difficult. Our grief support groups will address ways to cope. Learn what to anticipate, how to cope with your grief, and personal techniques to assist you and your loved ones.
We welcome you to join us at one of the many support groups available throughout the Northeast Wisconsin region.

GriefShare Support Groups www.griefshare.org
GriefShare is a national program that trains local people to become bereavement support group facilitators. These support groups are for any type of loss and can be for recent or past deaths.
​
These groups run for many weeks in a row.
​
Attendees do not need to attend every week and can join or leave at any time. Attendees often receive an educational workbook when you attend the group. Most groups do not charge to attend, but some do.
​

Meets at St. Mary’s Parish at 312 South State in Appleton, WI.
Winter hours: December-March First and third Saturday of the month from 9-10:30 AM
Spring to Fall hours: April-November First and third Monday of the month at 6:30-8 PM.
Some T.H.E.O. attendees get together for breakfast at 9:30 AM on the second Saturday of the month and gather at 6 PM for a meal on the fourth Monday of each month. These events are all published in the T.H.E.O. calendar which is available to T.H.E.O. attendees.

New Beginnings: Social dinner groups for widows and widowers. Advance registration is appreciated.
Meets the first Friday of the month for a fish fry (or you can order off the menu) at The Stone Toad restaurant, 1109 Oneida Street, Menasha, WI.
This group also meets the second Wednesday of the month at various restaurants in the Fox Valley. Social hour begins at 5 pm and dinner is at 6 pm.

Compassionate Friends, a national self-help support organization created to help families after a child dies from any cause and at any age, has a newly-chartered chapter in the Fox Valley.
The group offers friendship, understanding and hope to families grieving the death of a child.
​
The group has no religious affiliation and no membership fees/dues.
The first meeting was held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 6 PM at Father Carr’s Place 2B,1062 North Koeller Street, Oshkosh, WI.

Star Legacy Foundation is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving pregnancy outcomes and supporting parents who experience the death of a baby during pregnancy or infancy. In January 2023, Star Legacy Foundation created the Wisconsin Center for Stillbirth and Infant Death. This is a statewide program that provides a framework for early referral and intervention when a baby dies in Wisconsin.

Our team of health professionals connect with families who have experienced the death of a baby during pregnancy or infancy. We can listen, provide information, and connect families with available resources. Our services are free to all families.
RESOURCES
Each family has unique needs: Some of the common resources we work with include funeral homes, therapists, support groups, financial assistance programs and peer support. Other options are available as appropriate.
WHO DO WE HELP
Any family in Wisconsin who experiences the death of a baby during pregnancy or infancy. This includes the extended family of siblings, grandparents, or others impacted by the loss. Translation services are available.

Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit bereavement organization that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, primary caregiver, or significant person. Our programs are free of charge and include trust-building activities and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings.
